Safely operate a heavy or light truck, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and regulations. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to identify and address mechanical issues before hitting the road. Plan and follow efficient routes to optimize delivery times, while considering road conditions and traffic patterns. Load and unload cargo, ensuring that it is secured properly to prevent damage during transit. High school diploma or equivalent; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is mandatory for driving heavy trucks. Preferred experience of 2-5 years in long-haul or local trucking to understand the nuances of the job. Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) for tracking hours of service and compliance with regulations. Ability to navigate using GPS and traditional maps to find the best routes for deliveries.
