Painter Responsibilities Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, grinding, and removing old coatings. Apply primers, paints, protective coatings, and finishing materials using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment. Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications. Ensure correct colour, thickness, coverage, and surface finish. Inspect completed work and repair defects such as runs, bubbles, cracks, or uneven coating. Protect nearby equipment and work areas before painting. Clean and maintain painting tools, spray machines, and equipment. Follow work permits, safety procedures, and PPE requirements. Maintain proper housekeeping and safely handle paints, solvents, and chemicals. Requirements Requirements Secondary education or relevant trade certification is preferred. Minimum 2–3 years of relevant painting experience. Experience in industrial, construction, oil and gas, or marine painting is preferred. Knowledge of surface preparation, paint mixing, primers, and coating application. Ability to use brushes, rollers, and spray-painting equipment. Basic understanding of coating specifications and required paint thickness. Physically fit and comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. Good knowledge of workplace safety and chemical-handling procedures. Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
