Senior Drilling Optimization Engineer

About this opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Drilling Optimization Engineer to support drilling performance improvement, well delivery optimization, and operational efficiency initiatives within a leading upstream oil & gas environment. The successful candidate will leverage drilling engineering expertise, operational data analysis, and performance optimization techniques to identify improvement opportunities, reduce invisible lost time (ILT), and maximize drilling efficiency across a portfolio of wells. Key Responsibilities Analyze drilling performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities. Support well planning and execution activities with a focus on operational performance and risk reduction. Monitor and evaluate key drilling performance indicators and recommend corrective actions. Conduct post-well reviews and lessons learned exercises to drive continuous improvement. Support optimization of drilling practices, well designs, and operational workflows. Collaborate with drilling, well engineering, operations, and subsurface teams to improve well delivery performance. Develop performance reports, benchmarking studies, and data-driven recommendations. Support real-time drilling surveillance and performance monitoring initiatives. Contribute to operational excellence and digital drilling transformation programs. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. 8+ years of drilling engineering, drilling operations, or drilling optimization experience. Strong understanding of well planning and drilling execution processes. Experience analyzing drilling performance and operational data. Knowledge of key drilling performance indicators, including: Rate of Penetration (ROP) Weight on Bit (WOB) Torque Hookload Standpipe Pressure (SPP) Drilling dysfunction indicators Experience identifying and reducing invisible lost time (ILT). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Experience Well design optimization. BHA design and drilling mechanics. Hydraulics, torque & drag, and drilling performance analysis. Real-time drilling operations and surveillance environments. Drilling analytics and performance reporting tools. Digital drilling and data-driven optimization initiatives. Extended Reach, Horizontal, Deepwater, HPHT, or complex well environments.
