Trenton's manufacturing sector shows steady demand for skilled second shift maintenance mechanics, especially those with 5+ years' industrial experience. Competition remains moderate due to the specialized skills required in 480v and low voltage systems, making seasoned candidates with certifications highly sought after locally.
Employers in the Trenton area typically favor candidates with associate degrees or certification from technical trade schools, particularly those skilled in electrical wiring, PLCs, and mechanical troubleshooting. Practical experience combined with formal training enhances employability for second shift maintenance mechanic positions.
Second shift maintenance mechanics often handle urgent machine breakdowns with limited immediate support. Troubleshooting 480vac motor controls or low voltage circuits during off-peak hours demands quick diagnostic skills, the ability to interpret schematics, and decisive action to minimize production downtime.
The second shift runs from 3:00pm to 11:00pm, emphasizing machine maintenance, preventive inspections, and urgent repairs. Activities include wiring, fixture installation, and safety protocol adherence, ensuring continuous manufacturing operations with minimal interruptions.
With experience, mechanics can progress to supervisory roles or specialize in PLC programming and systems integration. Mastery of both electrical and mechanical systems on the second shift can open doors to higher-paying maintenance manager positions within manufacturing facilities.
Liberty Personnel Services provides robust support including competitive wages, safety-focused environments, and access to quality tools and materials. They prioritize clear communication and ongoing training to empower second shift mechanics with necessary resources for effective machine maintenance.
Beyond an hourly wage of $28 to $32, Liberty Personnel Services offers medical benefits and paid time off, reflecting their commitment to employee well-being. These perks enhance job stability and satisfaction for second shift maintenance mechanics in Trenton's manufacturing sector.
