Position description
The Office of Medical Education and the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology are seeking an Adjunct Professor with demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Co-course directorship and teaching are the primary responsibilities. This role requires a skilled educator who will work with the current Co-Director to coordinate and deliver a high-quality course in Gross Anatomy & Embryology for first-year medical students. This is a 135-hour course that runs from August- March and is composed of didactic sessions. Hands-on small group dissections will be scheduled in our brand-new Anatomy Lab in the Medical Education Building at UCI.
The Adjunct Professor/Co-Director will work collaboratively with the current Co-Director of the course to:
• Deliver an effective gross anatomy and embryology course that optimizes horizontal integration amongst pre-clerkship courses
• Expand vertical integration of clinical anatomy topics within the course and collaborate with clinicians
• Provide meaningful formative feedback to students throughout the course, in addition to creating high-quality summative assessments (written and practical examinations)
• Develop innovative approaches to anatomy education using adjuncts such as 3D printing, virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D visualization and virtual dissection tables
• Develop a comprehensive summer anatomy program for remediation and student success
This position will report to the Vice Dean of Medical Education, the Senior Associate Dean of Clinical Science Education and Educational Technology, and the Associate Dean of Basic Science Education.
