Position Overview
The award-winning physicians atLehigh Valley Heart and Vascular Instituteare all board-certified, many having served fellowships or received additional training with leading programs. Our expert clinicians utilize continuing medical education to further research and enhance collaboration, leading to better patient outcomes.
This non-surgical position will be responsible for the care and management of cardiothoracic surgical patients in the ICU, such as:
- Non-surgical 13-hour shift position for coverage of the 11-bed cardiothoracic surgery ICU (Open Heart Unit).
- Shift will rotate, 2 weeks days/2 weeks nights, with 2 weekends per month.
- Work in conjunction with the attending cardiothoracic surgeon, and non-surgical providers, for medical care of cardiothoracic surgical patients.
- Duties include: managing post cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, ECMO, LVAD, bedside procedures, and assisting in inpatient practice needs.
- Perform initial evaluation, history, and physical examination of all assigned patients.
- Placement of invasive monitoring lines including central venous catheters, dialysis lines, and arterial access.
- Participate in ongoing education, quality, and research projects.
- Contribute to service-related databases as indicated.
- Participate in education of patients and families during their inpatient course.

Qualifications
- Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified
- A Valid Pennsylvania Medical License or ability to obtain one is required
- Experience as an APC, managing patients in an ICU or OHU environment
