This role will be instrumental in ensuring the performance, availability, security, and integrity of our critical SQL Server database environments, both on-premises and within Azure Synapse. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in working in complex SQL Server infrastructures, including AlwaysOn availability groups, as well as designing, implementing, and maintaining ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). This individual will also be a key contributor in troubleshooting database issues, optimizing query performance, and ensuring the smooth operation of our data platforms.

  • Administer and monitor our Azure Synapse Analytics environment, including data warehousing and data integration components.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain ETL packages using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to support data integration needs.
  • Provide recommendations to business unit on database architecture for new use cases
  • Take the lead on implementation of a new Data Lake in an Azure Synapse environment
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement effective performance tuning strategies.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues, including connectivity problems, query performance degradation, and data corruption.
  • Maintain database security policies and procedures, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Collaborate with application development teams to optimize database design and query performance for new and existing applications.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Stay current with the latest SQL Server and Azure data platform technologies and best practices.
