Summary:
This Machinist will performs highly routine/repetitive work on standardized parts. This role will operates one or more CNC and/or Manual machines and will adjust and operate several machine tools on standardized work where setup detail and operating procedures are prescribed, like fixtures, machine stops, and indexing devices are utilized to control tolerances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations.
- Performs machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
- Obtains required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and performs inspections on work-in-progress using a wide variety of measuring devices.
- Completes and maintains all necessary records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisition forms, etc. for each job.
- Makes jigs, fixtures or other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned.
- Acquires raw material, supplies, tools, etc. when necessary.
- Performs first piece inspections on basic product for other machinists, as qualified and assigned.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule.
- Troubleshoots drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc. and making competent decisions pertaining to job at hand.
- Utilizes Geometric Dimension & Tolerance as called out on print.
- Ensures proper machine set up and accurate interpretation of prints and specifications to prevent damage to material. Detects errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience as a Manual or CNC Machinist
- Some trade school or on-the-job training is required to become proficient in most phases of the job.
- Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading is necessary to learn the job.
Mental/Visual/Physical Effort:
Walks, stands, reaches, and bends frequently. Periodic lifting of moderate to heavy items may be required. Possesses good hand/eye coordination.Physical Hazards:
Normal operations require eye protection, steel toed footwear, and occasionally hand protection.Working Conditions:
Exposure to normal machine shop environment with periodic noise. Limited disagreeable factors present.Work Arrangement: onsite
