The Role
Joining Balfour Beatty as an Assistant Superintendent you’ll be on-site helping to drive the success of high-profile, large-scale projects from the ground up — from preconstruction through close-out. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with experienced professionals, gaining exposure to complex buildings while sharpening your technical, financial, and leadership skills all whilst driving our Safety/Zero Harm culture and ensuring that critical project documentation and communication flow is maintained.
You will have a significant runway for continued development, learning and career growth as well as exposure to a wide range of complex high-value marquee projects.
Essential Functions
- Keep Projects on Track- Support field leadership team (Superintendents) in maintaining budgets, tracking costs, processing billing, and identifying scope changes to ensure schedule and financial performance.
- Stay Ahead of the Schedule- Help manage site logistics, support subcontractor orientations, and ensure schedules align with quality, safety, and sustainability goals.
- Run the Details-Take ownership of documentation: submittals, RFIs, change tracking, quality checks, and project close-out.
- Represent the Best- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, always representing our company’s values and commitment to excellence.
What You’ll Need:
- 1–3 years of experience in commercial construction, ideally in a field or project engineer capacity
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with a proactive mindset.
- Familiarity with construction processes, scheduling, budgeting, and document management.
- Experience with project manager software (Constructware, P6, Timberline, etc.) advantageous.
- A drive to learn, grow, and make an impact in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
