Overview:
Our client is seeking a qualified Vice President, Business Development to join their team, specializing in identifying and qualifying opportunities within the Federal sector, with expertise within the National Security domain and specifically within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, market analysis, and client relationship management within these sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain successful relationships clients within DOS Bureaus such as: Information Resource Management (IRM)/Diplomatic Technology (DT), Consular Affairs (CA), Diplomatic Security (DS), Administration (A) Bureau of Overseas Building Operations (OBO), Foreign Service Institute (FSI), the T Bureau Family, Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and Office of Foreign Missions (OFM).
- Leverage relationships to conduct client meetings and develop and execute call planning activities to understand client requirements, match our client’s capabilities to meet their client needs, and shape new opportunities.
- Work with the client’s DOS Account Team to identify, qualify, and cultivate potential pipeline opportunities, including organic growth as well as new business opportunities.
- Work with the client’s DOS Account Lead and VP to position and successfully compete for new and recompete work that supports our client’s core capabilities in Agile development/DevSecOps, IT PMO, Cyber Security, Cloud Services, and Intelligent Automation.
- Lead or assist with capture management and work with Proposal team to develop, edit, and evaluate technical and management aspects of proposals, leveraging client intimacy and knowledge to produce differentiated bids.
- Participate in bid decisions, the development of cost strategies, and capture phase reviews.
- Obtain marketing intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits, and develop marketing strategies.
- Work with our client’s Technical Solutions Group to understand and position their capabilities and differentiators, and ultimately articulate their value proposition to their clients.
- Join and/or participate in industry organizations (eg, ACT-IAC, AFCEA, PSC) and marketing events to improve our client’s brand reputation, generate interest, and provide information to their prospective client community.
- Effectively leverage supporting resources in the sales process with the spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant field and 15+ years of experience in Federal IT sales with the last 3-5 years specifically in business development for DOS.
- Strong knowledge and experience of DOS’ programs, mission, and initiatives with the ability to open doors and drive business.
- Demonstrated experience in BD sales to Federal civilian agencies (e.g., developing customer relationships, account strategies, developing a qualified pipeline, building industry relationships, and leading capture and proposal activities).
- Experience winning medium sized bids (>$5 million annual recurring revenue – $50 million total contract dollar) or larger proposal efforts in DOS.
- Confidence and experience dealing with senior executives; ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, time-sensitive, and often multi-tasking environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and create positive working environments.
- Work location is Vienna, Virginia or remote.
- No security clearance required.
