The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform.Duties DescriptionAre you a Registered Nurse with experience in nurse education and training? St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, Children and Youth is currently recruiting a Registered Nurse 3 (Psychiatric Educator) to plan, design, and develop training curriculum to improve the knowledge, skills, and abilities of nursing staff.
As a Registered Nurse 3 (Psychiatric Educator), you would:
• Plan, design, and develop orientation and training curriculum for nursing staff;
• Provide on the job training
• Clinically supervise staff in the provision of nursing services
• Evaluate training needs and modify programs to ensure effective service delivery
• Collaborate with nursing management and multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop and revise policies and procedures and ensure staff competencies are current and in compliance with nursing standards
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy.Minimum QualificationsCandidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are:
• Licensed and currently registered as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing; and
• 2 years of post-licensure nursing experience; 1 year must be clinical nursing experience working with individuals, at least 50% of whom have been diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorder and 1 year must be as a professional nurse educator conducting nurse education and training.
Substitution: Master’s degree in nursing or higher may substitute for the one year of nurse educator experience.
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($82326), an Increase Hiring Rate ($10,852), Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($104, 230), Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000).
