- Care for pre-term infant 32 weeks or greater
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program required and provided, S.T.A.B.L.E. program required
- Board Certified Neonatologist and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners on staff

General Summary
Provides ambulatory Medical Group staff with professional development expertise as an educator, change agent, leader, consultant, and facilitator. Educates all clinical staff in the ambulatory setting and fosters empowerment through knowledge and achievement of excellence through delivery of evidence-based clinical practice. This occurs through the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment within the WellSpan Medical Group. Continually assesses learning needs of all clinical staff, leads and maintains all clinical programs and courses, while evaluating the impact of outcomes. Possesses the ability to deliver information thoroughly and effectively utilizing a variety of teaching styles and techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities
Directs the education process for clinical staff (including RNs, LPNs, and MAs) within WellSpan Medical Group including assessing all educational needs, planning, developing and delivering appropriate education and training, and evaluating education outcomes in accordance with state regulatory agencies.
- Functions as educational advisor and subject matter expert for clinical staff including RN's, LPN's and MA's (and higher licensed or credentialed staff as needed) in WellSpan Medical Group for all specialty, primary care, and internal medicine areas.
- Conducts annual learning needs assessment using a variety of strategic tools. Provides educational programs and curricula for the clinical staff of WellSpan Medical Group as identified from the learning needs assessment. Programs/curricula may be specific to specialty or applicable to the entire medical group.
- Develops, implements, maintains and evaluates individual educational programs that include a variety of delivery methods. (E.g., instructor led trainings, online trainings, train the trainer sessions, hands-on demonstrations, LMS modules, and videos)
- Develops and maintains all clinical competencies for RN's, LPN's and MA's in the ambulatory setting specific to specialty of practice as well as general practice. Completes competency development on an on-going basis for all new procedures and equipment introduced into clinical practice.
- Assists in implementing and continually monitoring orientation and onboarding process for all newly hired clinical staff including RN's, LPN's and MA's in WellSpan Medical Group.
- Implements and continually monitors the training of all preceptors to verify orientation content and schedule as appropriate for achieving role independence of the newly hired RN, LPN and MA in WellSpan Medical Group.
- Schedules, facilitates & evaluates annual medical emergency simulations for all staff and providers within WellSpan Medical Group to ensure appropriate care for patients experiencing life-threatening emergencies.
- Collaborates regularly with other members of the Quality and Innovation team to ensure educational plans coincide with the operational goals of WellSpan Medical Group.
- Tracks staff education requirements quarterly and as needed and facilitates opportunities for clinical staff to meet these requirements.
- Promotes evidence-based practice and teaches content to facilitate orientation, staff development and safe clinical practice.
- Serves as educational consultant, and clinical expert, for the WellSpan Medical Group to facilitate committees, councils and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development.
- Works in conjunction with Organizational Learning & Development to develop alternative methods of instruction while acting as subject matter expert.
- Promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research and actively seeks opportunities for staff to participate in these activities on the unit/department/system.
- Variation of duties may result based on the assigned customer care unit(s). This may include differences in the specific clinical skills required of the RN. Unit based skill lists outline expectations beyond the house wide RN requirements. SYS-NURS-L Nursing Education Requirements Policy outlines current certification(s) required for specific areas of nursing practice and is considered to be part of the job description.
- In addition to requirements specified in the license and certification section below, current BLS certification for all areas of nursing practice is required.Current certification may be required for the following areas of nursing practice:Emergency Care Center - ACLS, PALSIntensive Care Center & MSCC Lead - ACLS, PALSL&D - ACLS, NRP, - Experienced L&D nurses will obtain within 6 months and new L&D nurses will obtain at 1 year of experienceNICU - NRPPEDS - PALSPCC/PACU/ENDO - ACLS, PALSProcedural - ACLS
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety standards.
- Enhances and maintains professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, seminars, workshops, current literature and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Supports shared decision-making structure at both the practice and system level through active involvement as appropriate and encouraging staff professional development.
- Performs other related duties as identified.
QualificationsMinimum Education:
- Bachelors Degree Required
- Masters Degree Preferred
Work Experience:
- 3 years In acute care setting or ambulatory setting. Required and
- Previous teaching experience. Required and
- Teaching and learning strategies, learning styles, curriculum and design. Required
Licenses:
- Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or
- Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required and
- Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
Driver's License Statement:
Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal/communications skills.

- Experience with presentations, public speaking, WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, Epic experience a plus.
