Freqently Asked Questions
Providence's healthcare sector has a growing demand for Clinical Pharmacist Advisors specializing in Medicare, driven by an aging population. Competition remains moderate, with preference for candidates holding active pharmacist licenses and Medicare experience, making it essential to highlight specialized skills and clinical judgment in applications.
In Rhode Island, employers highly value candidates with a PharmD and a valid state pharmacist license. Additionally, familiarity with CMS guidelines and Medicare Part D appeals processes enhances employability, reflecting the region's emphasis on compliance and clinical expertise in pharmacy benefit management.
Expertise in Medicare Part D benefit interpretation and appeal reviews sets this role apart, alongside strong clinical judgment and proficiency with drug compendia. Unlike broader clinical pharmacist positions, this advisor role demands nuanced knowledge of CMS regulations and the ability to liaise effectively with providers and members.
Advancement opportunities often lead to managerial or specialist roles in pharmacy benefit management or pharmaceutical consulting. Gaining deeper familiarity with Medicare policies and expanding provider network coordination skills can propel career trajectory toward leadership within healthcare organizations or Fortune 500 companies.
This position uniquely offers remote work flexibility while requiring adherence to CMS-mandated timelines for Medicare Part D appeals. The contract nature coupled with competitive hourly pay emphasizes a results-driven environment, contrasting with some advisory roles that may be more office-based or permanent.
Beyond competitive hourly wages, A-line Staffing offers full-time contract employees access to benefits after 90 days, including a 401(k) with company matching after one year. Such incentives align with retention strategies in competitive pharmacy advisory fields within remote work settings.
For this role, candidates can anticipate an hourly wage around $53.00, reflecting market standards for specialized Medicare pharmacy advisors in Providence. This rate balances the expertise required for clinical review and the flexibility of remote, contract-based employment.
Clinical judgment is crucial for interpreting complex drug compendia and making coverage determinations compliant with CMS standards. This skill ensures accurate Medicare appeals review and effective provider communication, directly influencing patient outcomes and regulatory adherence.
Expect a primarily remote setup demanding a quiet, dedicated workspace with reliable internet. Business hours include extended coverage on weekdays and weekends under rotation, emphasizing autonomy and self-discipline within a full-time, contract framework.
