The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform.Duties DescriptionCapital District Psychiatric Center is recruiting for Social Work Assistant 2 to provide case management and service coordination activities for individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
As a Social Work Assistant 2 at Capital District Psychiatric Center, you will manage a caseload for individuals with more complicated behavioral disorders including:
• Interviewing individuals and their families to gather background information
• Preparing case histories and determining eligibility for services
• Advocating and assisting individuals in identifying and obtaining services
• Supervising Social Work Assistant 1 and direct care staff
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy.Minimum QualificationsCandidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have a bachelor’s degree in a human service field and 2 year of social work experience.
Substitution: Master’s degree in social work can substitute for 1 year of specialized experience.

Candidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Social Work Assistant 3 eligible list.

Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.
