The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform.Duties DescriptionAre you ready to start your Social Work career with New York State? Capital District Psychiatric Center is recruiting for Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) for their crisis intervention unit. Day and overnight shifts are available, rotating weekend schedule is required.

Licensed Social Workers will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate care and individualized support services in a psychiatric emergency room setting. Duties including:

• Completing psychiatric assessments with a Physician to determine if the individual would benefit from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.

• Providing verbal de-escalation and participating in interventions as needed.

• Triaging phone calls and providing telephonic crisis response.

• Securing inpatient bed for individuals in need and facilitating transfers.

• Working with insurance companies to gain preauthorization for inpatient hospitalization.

• Connecting individuals to outpatient services at the time of discharge.

• Assisting in training and orientation of new staff and/or interns.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy.Minimum QualificationsCandidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are licensed and currently registered by New York State as a Licensed Master Social Worker.

OR

Candidates within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
