Title: Radiologic Technologist - Hosp
Unit: Medical Imaging
Hours: Wk1: Thurs, Fri; Wk2: Thurs, Fri, Sat 6a-230p
Facility: MVH
Position Summary:
Independently performs diagnostic radiographic procedures utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Radiology Department. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs. May have on call responsibilities.
Essential Duties & Functions:
1. Performs Radiographic procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates images for technical quality.
2. Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the radiographic procedure.
3. Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed policies / procedures. Performs daily and weekly QC as required.
4. Prepares and administers contrast media to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques.
5. Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
6. Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
7. Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam.
8. Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
9. Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
10. Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.
