DescriptionKforce is working with a client in search of a Systems Engineer - Hybrid Infrastructure & Virtualization- to join their team! This position is full time, direct hire and 4-days on-site near Maplewood, NJ. As a Systems Engineer, you'll be at the heart of our infrastructure operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability. We're looking for a passionate and experienced Systems Engineer to help design, implement, and maintain a robust hybrid infrastructure spanning VMware, Windows, Linux, and storage technologies. Virtualization & VMware:
- Deploy and manage VMware environments including ESXi hosts, vSphere clusters, and vCenter
- Maintain and optimize Horizon VDI environments
- Build and cable physical servers, integrating with network and storage systems
- Partner with Networking teams to align virtual networking and VLAN configurations.
- Administer Windows Server and Linux systems in a hybrid setup
- Manage SAN storage arrays, including provisioning and capacity planning
- Support data center operations including rack-and-stack and cabling
- Assist in designing and implementing new systems and infrastructure projects
- Troubleshoot complex issues and contribute to incident response and root cause analysis
- Support cloud-integrated workloads (AWS familiarity preferred)
- Contribute to hybrid infrastructure initiatives
- Use automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, Ansible) to streamline operations (a plus)
- Work closely with Systems, Networking, Security, and Operations teams
- Document systems, processes, and solutions to ensure operational readiness

- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and Horizon VDI
- Solid background in Windows Server administration; Linux experience is a plus
- Experience with SAN storage and data center operations

- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Industry certifications (VMware, AWS, Microsoft)
- Scripting and automation experience
- Knowledge of ITIL or compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
