While non-tenure track, Professors of Practice may receive contract renewals and can build reputations as experts integrating practical experience into academia. These roles generally command salaries ranging from $70,000 to $95,000 annually, reflecting the balance between academic qualifications and practical teaching expertise. Compensation often factors in the institution's prestige, local cost of living, and the candidate’s experience bridging theory and practice.
While a Ph.D. remains essential, certifications in teaching methodologies or economic analysis tools can enhance candidacy. Given Wellesley’s diverse student body, demonstrating skills in cross-cultural communication or international economics may also provide an edge.
