- Performs basic tasks according to highly specific departmental policies and procedures in order to maintain an aseptic, clean, and attractive environment for the hospital.
- Spot cleans walls, windows, furniture, and carpets.
- Disinfects sinks, tubs, mirrors, toilets, urinals using proper disinfecting techniques.
- Maintains adequate supply of soap, towels, toilet tissue, and other necessary items.
- Makes beds; sorts and distributes linens.
- Cleans and sanitizes all horizontal and lateral surfaces throughout the facility.
- Offers suggestions to improve work methods or procedures and participates in the quality improvement process.
- Utilizes cleaning chemicals properly and safely in accordance with department guidelines.
- Keeps housekeeping carts and vacuums clean and in good working order.
- Reports repairs or the need for replacements and follows up to ensure that the repairs meet facility standards.

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
