Nurse Educator

Job Summary:



Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse Educator serves as a specialist in the design, development, provision, evaluation, and review of education while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

Hours:

40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Day Shift

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for the coordination and provision of education
  • Oversees, develops, and facilitates new hire and clinical orientation
  • Develops and facilitates annual provider education
  • Facilitates the center-based annual and ongoing education and competency validations
  • Assures compliance with local, state, federal guidelines and regulations governing hospitals through collaborative communication with leadership
  • Develops, coordinates, and documents computer-based learning assignments
  • Oversees BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications and programming
  • Follows up with staff directly when educational components become due
  • Meets with all new hire clinical staff to identify additional educational opportunities needed or requested
  • Meets with clinical managers monthly to discuss educational opportunities and needs for the department
  • Creates education for departments as needed
  • Rounds regularly throughout the center to check-in with staff and provide educational opportunities
  • Attends staff meetings and in-services and provides education as necessary
  • Be available for on-demand educational needs for the center
  • Collects, maintains, and reports data as required
  • Regular and prompt work-site attendance
  • Work assigned clinical shifts as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge & Ability:

  • Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
  • Current licensure as RN
  • BLS/ACLS/PALS certification are required upon hire
  • Experience in program development is preferred
  • Two years of experience in surgical services preferred
  • Master’s in education preferred
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products is preferred
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement
  • Is aware of professional standards and performs in accordance with them
