The Department of Economics at Appalachian State University is seeking candidates for the endowed Stephenson Family Distinguished Professor in Economics position, which is open to the academic ranks of full professor as a distinguished professor, or associate professor as a distinguished scholar. The start date is the Fall 2026 semester.
The successful candidate for this endowed faculty position is expected to have and maintain a recognized research program with a focus on environmental and resource economics and/or experimental and behavioral economics. The department seeks individuals with an outstanding publication record, a strong record or potential for external research funding, proven excellence as a teacher, and an interest in participating in department service activities. While teaching assignments vary with needs, the department seeks candidates with the willingness and expertise to teach courses in business statistics and applied econometrics at the undergraduate level, and at the graduate level for programs such as Master of Science in Applied Data Analytics and Master of Business Administration.
The successful candidate will hold a 9-month faculty position with tenure. The accompanying appointment as the endowed distinguished professorship is for an initial term of five years with the expectation of renewal based on performance.
