Administrative Lab DirectorOverview
We are seeking an experiencedLaboratory Directorto lead and oversee all aspects of laboratory operations atChilton Medical Center. The Director will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and efficient laboratory services across multiple sections, including Core Lab, Blood Bank, Phlebotomy, and Point of Care. This role offers a unique opportunity for an accomplished leader with strong operational, strategic, and fiscal management experience within a hospital or multi-hospital system.
Administrative Lab DirectorKey Responsibilities
- Provide overall direction and management of daily operations across all laboratory sections.
- Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, and other regulatory standards.
- Oversee and mentor Section Supervisors, Lead Technologists, and Technologists to promote a culture of quality and accountability.
- Lead quality management initiatives, workflow optimization, and productivity improvements.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets; coordinate objectives and goals for optimal operational and fiscal performance.
- Maintain strong communication with the Leadership Team, Pathologists, and other departments to ensure seamless collaboration.
- Address and resolve operational challenges, complaints, and performance issues in coordination with leadership.
- Initiate and implement new laboratory procedures, technologies, and process enhancements.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and ensure consistent, effective communication throughout the department.
- Support professional development through coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
- Serve as an administrative and technical resource for the laboratory team, providing consultation as needed via phone or electronic means.
Administrative Lab DirectorRequired Qualifications
- Must meetcurrent CAP requirementsfor a laboratory supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degreein Medical Technology, or in a physical, chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
- ASCP certification (or equivalent)required.
- Minimum of
- six (6) years of clinical laboratory experience , including
- three (3) years in a supervisory role .
- Proven experience leading laboratory operations within ahospital or multi-hospital system.
- Demonstrated expertise inbudget development and managementfor large teams or departments.
- C-suite interaction experiencerequired.
- Strong background inquality management,
- strategic planning , and
- team leadership .
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Administrative Lab DirectorPreferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree(MBA or MHA) strongly preferred.
- Prior experience as anAdministrative Lab Directorwithin a large healthcare organization.
- Familiarity with high-complexity testing environments (CLIA/CAP).

- Must beavailable on-siteand accessible for consultation as needed.
