Preston Taylor Ministries (PTM) is a Christian-based non-profit organization that exists to provide safe and fun neighborhood programming for kids to learn and grow. Programs include after school tutoring, summer field trips, seasonal sports, one-on-one mentoring, Bible studies, camps, and more. These programs for kids are supported by PTM staff, community and parent volunteers, and generous donors that support the work of PTM. Reporting to the Facilities and Transportation Manager, the Bus Driver will be responsible for safely transporting youth safely to and from PTM, fostering a safe environment on the bus, and maintaining accurate records to ensure safe operations at all times. The PTM Bus Driver will directly live out the mission of PTM each day by providing an environment that provides significant opportunities for youth to experience “joy-filled friendships” and to pursue their “God-inspired dreams.” All employees at PTM should represent the organization well to children and their families, volunteers, supporters, and the community.
Job ResponsibilitiesRoles and ResponsibilitiesTransports children safely to and from PTM; fosters and maintains safe environment; and drives route accurately and efficiently;Observes and obeys all traffic rules and regulations; follows and obeys all policies and procedures to ensure efficient transportation and delivery operations. Follows assigned safety rules and inspects bus for safety items before each afternoon run by following PTM guidelines as well as all Federal, State and Local rules and regulations pertaining to safe operation of a bus.Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, always checking for students that might remain on board. Notes any damage to the vehicle and communicates regularly with the Transportation Manager of any alterations to ensure safe vehicle operations for PTM.Sweeps, cleans and washes vehicles; removes lost or leftover items from bus and returns to lost and found when applicable; and maintains a clean and sanitary environment to ensure a healthy and safe atmosphere.Maintains accurate and up-to-date records and route descriptions; inspects vehicle regularly and performs basic maintenance functions in order to maintain professional and safe transportation.Monitors children, coaches, and instructs according to PTM rules and guidelines.When required, meet with Site Coordinators and children to solve behavior issues that may arise.QualificationsJob RequirementsEducation: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.One or more years related experience as a bus driverValid Tennessee Drivers’ LicensePossess knowledge and understanding of the developmental stages of a child.Behavior and classroom management skillsAbility to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.Work ScheduleThe Bus Driver is a part-time role generally working:
Hours: Approximately 12-20 hours per week depending on availability.
2:30pm – 6:30pm weekdays
Specific work schedules will vary by site. Hours will be determined by the Facilities and Transportation Manager.
