  • Prior experience in a chemistry laboratory environment with a focus on quality assurance

  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments accurately and with strong attention to detail

  • Experience with analytical instrumentation and laboratory procedures (X-ray analysis preferred)

Our client, a leading specialty steel manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilledChemistto support analytical testing within their steel manufacturing laboratory. This role is essential to ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of chemical analyses that directly support production quality and operational performance.

Position Summary

The Chemist will perform daily testing and analysis using sound scientific judgment, maintain and calibrate analytical equipment, ensure testing accuracy, and support continuous improvement of laboratory processes. This role requires a commitment to precision, quality, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, calibration, and proper functioning of analytical laboratory equipment.

  • Conduct chemical analyses for final steel samples, VIM chemistry, VAR/ESR samples, and routine product checks.

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and standardization of analytical instruments.

  • Prepare samples for testing and maintain associated sample preparation equipment.

  • Complete daily reporting related to production, hydrogen, and chemistry metrics.

  • Review, revise, and update laboratory procedures as needed.

  • Identify and mark Jominy samples in the absence of metallurgical laboratory staff.

  • Demonstrate impartiality, maintain technical competency, and follow all Quality System requirements.

  • Participate in analytical testing proficiency and competency programs.

  • Provide support to the Metallurgy Lab as needed.

  • Travel occasionally (local, national, or international) for customer visits, conferences, or technical support.

  • Follow all company policies, safety standards, and work rules.

  • Collaborate effectively with team members and maintain reliable attendance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
