Role Summary:
You will lead the accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and efficient financial operations. This role is critical to our scalability and growth, particularly as we manage multiple funds and lending portfolios. The ideal candidate combines public accounting expertise, fund accounting experience, and industry knowledge in lending, fintech, or financial services, along with a proven ability to drive financial planning and budgeting initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Accounting:
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Manage general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial consolidations.
- Prepare and review fund accounting reports, ensuring compliance with fund-specific accounting policies.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and other regulatory requirements for both general and fund accounting.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory bodies for both company-wide and fund-specific audits.
Financial Controls & Compliance:
- Develop and implement strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state lending regulations, tax laws, and financial reporting standards.
- Maintain and improve financial policies, procedures, and systems, with special attention to fund management and accounting.
Strategic Financial Management & Planning:
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support business decisions, optimize lending operations, and manage fund performance.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to enhance cash flow management, loan portfolio accounting, and financial forecasting.
- Lead financial planning and budgeting efforts:
- Develop, implement, and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Work closely with department heads to gather insights and align budgeting with strategic goals.
- Monitor and analyze budget performance, recommending adjustments and corrective actions as needed.
- Assist in fundraising, capital allocation, and investor relations with a deep understanding of fund operations.
Technology & Process Improvement:
- Lead the implementation and optimization of accounting and financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Workday), ensuring they support both general and fund accounting needs.
- Automate and streamline accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Support data-driven decision-making by integrating financial data with business intelligence tools.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred).
- 7+ years of accounting/finance experience, with demonstrated fund accounting experience in financial services, alternative lending, or fintech.
- Experience in high-growth or PE-backed companies is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and industry-specific fund accounting practices.
- Proven expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Proficiency in financial systems and ERP software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Workday).
- Experience managing external audits, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
