Cedar Point is seeking qualified Electrical Controls Technicians to help maintain, troubleshoot, and repair our state-of-the-art control systems. Working as part of a dynamic team, you'll ensure our attractions operate smoothly, safely, and at peak performance.
As an Electrical Controls Technician, you will use advanced diagnostic tools such as digital multi-meters, PLC ladder logic, and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics to maintain Cedar Point’s control systems to the highest standard. If you're an expert in Allen Bradley controls, DC/AC drives, and various PLC systems, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Repair: Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and components within the park's attractions.
Calibrate & Inspect: Calibrate equipment and inspect wiring, panels, and control systems to ensure everything is functioning properly.
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair issues with DC drive controllers, DC motors, PLC systems, and relay logic electrical problems.
Use Diagnostic Tools: Effectively use amp probes, digital volt meters, oscilloscopes, and other testing tools to identify and fix malfunctions.
Control Systems Knowledge: Apply your working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs (SLC500, PLC5, NUMA LOGIC, ControlLogix 5000, CompactLogix), hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
AutoCAD & Schematics: Familiarity with AutoCAD for creating and interpreting schematics.
Additional Duties: Perform any other duties related to electrical systems maintenance as required by the team.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Associate degree in Industrial or Robotic Control Systems preferred.
High school diploma/GED required.
Experience:
3-5 years of industrial control systems experience preferred.
Experience with Allen Bradley controls (DC/AC drives, PLCs) and diagnostic tools is a must.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in PLC ladder logic, DC motor controllers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and schematics drawing.
Certifications & Licenses:
Must join the electrical union.
Driver’s license required.
Availability:
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.
Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test as per company policy.
Ability to pass a background check (including credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references) if 18 years of age or older.
