Position Summary
Organizes and direct cost accounting activities for the Operation. The position will perform cost accounting analyses to compare estimated costs to actual costs and prepare a variety of related budget reports, forecasts and management studies.
Essential Functions:
- Gathers and compiles cost information and maintains database concerning operation expenses.
- Predicts, plans and records variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor and operation costs.
- Reviews and analysis actual cost to identify variances and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Develops systems and procedures for accumulation systems and cost accounting functions.
- Performs monthly, quarterly and year-end closings with assistance.
- Participates in the preparation of monthly and quarterly material and scrap analysis of performance to budget & forecast.
- Participates in setting new standards for each fiscal year.
- Participates in development of short- and long-range financial plans particularly in the areas of scrap and inventory adjustments.
- Participates and monitors the taking of physical inventories and their subsequent reconciliation. Ensures that corrective actions are identified.
- Interacts with manufacturing management, product engineers and managers, Master Metal, Sales, Production Control and I.T. concerning scrap budgets, forecasts and targets.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Thorough understanding of cost accounting procedures and practices.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in cost accounting required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information.
