They coordinate with care teams, manage productivity targets, and ensure regulatory compliance, while still providing quality infectious disease treatment. This dual role demands strong organizational skills and clinical expertise.
Beyond an MD/DO license and DEA registration, obtaining the AAHIVM certification within 18 months is crucial. This specialized credential equips Physician Medical Directors with advanced knowledge in HIV management, improving patient outcomes and aligning with clinic standards in infectious disease outpatient services.
Jacksonville’s healthcare landscape emphasizes outpatient infectious disease care due to regional population health needs. Physician Medical Directors here often engage more with community wellness initiatives and face unique patient demographics, requiring tailored clinical approaches versus roles in larger metropolitan areas with broader specialty coverage.
Expect a dynamic environment managing 14 to 18 patients daily, focusing on infectious diseases and primary care conditions.
