Works as part of a care team to improve the execution of quality requirements, increase throughput, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall patient experience. - Assists provider by collecting patient history and reason for visit. Completes observation, physical exam, telephone triage, and analysis of diagnostic data.
- Ensures that all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged and that the provider is presented with all test results.
- Provides education to patients, ensures education materials are current and appropriate, and evaluates the effectiveness of patient education.
- Assists patients with inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization.
- Assists providers during procedures and examinations and performs instrument and room clean-up.
- Coordinates internal and external appointments for new and established patients based on patients' medical needs, preferences, and the practice schedule.
- Intervenes to prevent, minimize, or correct any actual or potential patient risks based upon observation of physiological, behavioral, and environmental factors.
- Participates in telephone triage by obtaining clinically appropriate data and symptoms; advises and instructs patients according to established protocols and/or orders from the provider.
