Title: Project Accountant

Location: North Haven, CT

Compensation: $75,000 – $85,000

The Role:

As a Project Accountant, you will report directly to the Controller and play a key role in supporting daily and monthly financial operations. You’ll be involved in everything from invoice processing and subcontractor compliance to assisting with monthly closings and certified payroll. This is a critical position for someone seeking long-term growth in construction accounting within a dynamic and reputable team.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable: Invoice review, data entry, and accurate coordination of weekly check runs

Billing Oversight: Manage AIA billing processes and resolve discrepancies with vendors and subcontractors

Compliance Management: Oversee W9 collection, 1099 reporting, subcontractor documentation, and certificates of insurance

Certified Payroll: Handle prevailing wage reporting and lien waivers

Close Support: Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes with the Controller

Account Reconciliation: Perform account reviews and special projects as needed

Systems: Work with Sage 300, Procore, and Microsoft Office tools

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field (required)

Minimum 3–5 years in accounting, with a strong preference for construction industry experience Familiarity with Sage 300, Procore, certified payroll reporting, and Microsoft Office Suite

Must be organized, independent, and capable of effective team communication
