Position description
The Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for two faculty positions in outcomes research: tenured Associate/Full Professor and non-tenured Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Clinical X.
The School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences is one of the five units under the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, which also includes the Program in Public Health, the School of Medicine, the Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing, and the Susan Samueli Integrated Health Institute. The college is part of the integrated UC Irvine Health system that also encompasses UCI’s clinics and Orange County’s only academic medical center.
Exciting opportunities for collaboration exist on campus, including the UC Irvine Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, the Cancer Research Institute, the Institute for Immunology, the Center for Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, the Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders, the Center for Virus Research, the Center for Complex Biological Systems, the Institute for Genomics and Bioinformatics, the Microbiome Initiative, and the Center for Neural Circuit Mapping.
The Department is seeking candidates with a strong background in outcomes research, including expertise in biostatistics, health outcomes, health policy, pharmacoeconomics, and pharmacoepidemiology. Applicants must hold a PhD, PharmD, MD or equivalent degree(s). Clinical practitioners must also be eligible for California Pharmacy Licensure.
The ideal candidate currently leads or makes significant intellectual and substantive contributions to a research program that focuses on pharmacoepidemiology, health economics, or related disciplines. Applicants should be experienced with engaging in clinically relevant research and should have a record of scholarly achievement and productivity. Strong research collaboration skills and experience with bridging population-based, clinical, and policy-oriented research initiatives are preferred. Applicants should also have teaching experience appropriate for a higher education setting, and possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing high-quality instruction and training for PharmD and/or PhD students, primarily in health policy, pharmacoeconomics, and managed care pharmacy.
- Seeking and securing grants and funding to support outcome research within the School.
- Collaborating with research units and centers on campus, such as the Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit or Bioanalysis Facility, to integrate basic science research findings into clinical practice.
- Mentoring students/residents/fellows/post-graduates in research and scholarship, engaging them in meaningful projects.
- Serving on department, College, and/or University committees.
- Participating in curriculum assessment, development, and delivery.
TheProfessor facultyseries is responsible for providing the highest form of excellence in teaching, research and creative work, professional competence and activity, and University and public service. Appointment to this position provides tenure and membership to the Academic Senate.
TheProfessor of Clinical Xfaculty series is responsible for quality professional clinical services, teaching, research and creative activity, and University and public service. Appointees to this series typically carry a heavier teaching and/or clinical service load than those in the regular Professor series. Appointment to this position is eligible for annual renewal and provides membership to the Academic Senate.
