Position DetailsPOSITION OVERVIEW:Northville Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications
Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for a skilled storyteller and digital communicator who is passionate
about public education and community engagement. Reporting directly to the Director of Community Partnerships
and Wellness, the Communications Specialist will play a key role in shaping the district’s voice across multiple
platforms.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate’s degree or higher
• Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field preferred
• Experience with web design, video content creation/editing, podcasting, publication and graphic design, branding
guides preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, media, or public relations
• Proficiency in website CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, FinalSite), video editing software, podcast tools and
online graphic design and publishing tool (Canva preferred)
• Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Strong organization, attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills
• Evidence of excellent written communication and publishing skills
• Demonstrated success in implementing strong communication campaigns
• Demonstrated knowledge of social media and emerging communication platforms
• Ability to efficiently use a variety of software applications to draft, revise, and distribute a broad range of district
publications, marketing materials and communications
• Evidence of professional and credible verbal and listening skills, including phone and email

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities reflected below are not inclusive and may change to meet the emerging needs of the School and
the District.
1. Develop, promote, publicize and archive District news, activities and successes in the improvement of
learning, teaching and student achievement through all communication platforms
2. Develop, coordinate and monitor communications between the school district and community including
district website, print and electronic communications, and social media platforms
3. Take quality photos for district newsletters, social media platforms, and other publications
4. Assist the Superintendent and District Leadership team in all aspects of District communications and public
relations
5. Design and create print publications, web sites, electronic communication, media and/or video productions
and podcasts
6. Manage timelines and content integration of all district communication campaigns
7. Attend district and building level events to gather information, photos, and media for publication
(periodically involves evening / weekend events)
8. Assist with the planning and execution of a variety of special events including Opening Day programs, State
of the Community Event, Community Forums, etc.
9. Assist school personnel and school organizations in planning and publicizing school related events or
activities
10. Assist with media inquiries and requests for information, disseminate information, when necessary, in
response to media inquiries
11. Maintain updated information and media on the District website
12. Communicate school closings on all media platforms
13. Perform clerical duties as required
14. Receive and respond to daily phone, email and in-person questions and inquiries
15. Maintain strict confidentiality at all times as required
16. Maintain regular and consistent employee attendance
17. Other duties as assigned
