Shift Details:
1. Minimum Candidate Qualifications:
The candidate must have a minimum of:
a. Proof of eligibility to work in NYS.
b. A Bachelor's Degree
c. An Associate Degree in Legal Assistance OR an Associate Degree and a certificate of completion of a Legal
Assistant Certificate Program from an accredited college.
d. Two years of full-time legal assistant or paralegal work experience related to financial services.
2. Job Description and Required Services:
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Assist Client's Climate Division by conducting legal research, investigating facts, and preparing documents to support the
Climate Division in its projects and day to day functions.
•Analyze information gathered, and prepare summaries of findings. Assignments are varied and require extensive
involvement in the program area.
•Compile and organize files and documentation;catalog information;update databases or spreadsheets;and prepare
correspondence.
•Handle administrative and organizational tasks to ensure the Climate Division's projects run smoothly. As part of this
responsibility, the Legal Assistant must manage schedules, track progress, and facilitate communication among team
members and stakeholders. This includes creating and updating project timelines, coordinating meetings, and managing
calendars.
•Other duties as assigned.
Preferred skills/qualifications:
•Knowledge of basic legal processes;legal terminology and legal forms;legal research techniques, ability to read,
understand and interpret laws, legal documents and other written material.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
•Educational background or work experience in climate change or resiliency-related topics, including legislative and regulatory
measures.
•Experience with conducting geospatial data analysis.
Notes:
*Telecommuting may be allowed at the discretion of the hiring manager.
*The Department does not provide parking, but the office is accessible by mass transit.
