Summary
The Laborer will primarily focus on the visual inspection, transportation and packaging of final work product according to customer specification.
Essential Functions
- Adheres to plant and department safety rules, safely operate all equipment and tools, identifies and reports safety problems, corrects when possible.
- Transports material from production through final packaging, via forklift or other manual and mobilized equipment.
- Load and unload material for shot blast operations or other value-added service.
- Package material into drums, Gaylords, boxes or super sacks according to customer specification, this includes adherence to weight specification.
- Identify product through labeling and stencils.
- Perform visual quality inspection of product.
- Unload trucks with incoming materials.
- Maintains a clean work environment.
- Performs miscellaneous functions as needed in various departments.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-4 years' experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
Competencies
- Experience operating forklifts preferred.
- Must have attention for detail, including basic math skills with the ability to add and subtract accurately.
- Proficient in the basic use of a computer to facilitate the entry and completion of work orders.
- Able to use basic hand tools.
- Must physically be able to frequently lift up to 35 lbs. with frequent bending.
- Able to multi-task with shifting priorities and multiple interruptions.
- Must be willing to work shifts and overtime as needed, including 12-hour shifts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
