Position description
The University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine, Department of Plastic Surgery is now accepting applications from skilled physician educators who are passionate about advancing clinical care, education and research within a clinical/academic setting. Positions are anticipated in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series and the Professor of Clinical "X" Series, at the Assistant or Associate or full Professor rank.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D., board certification or board eligibility in Plastic Surgery, and a California Medical License/ California Medical License eligibility. The ability to obtain UCIMC staff credentials is also required. Fellowship training in Microsurgery and/or Hand Surgery are appreciated.
The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, medical students and other academic learners, provide quality patient care, collaborate on research and/or creative works and perform university and public service. Demonstrated evidence of capabilities for excellent teaching and creative works suitable for the series is expected for appointment to this series.
Criteria for appointment in the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is an essential criterion for appointment in this series.
Criteria for appointment in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.
