Part – Time Subcontract

NAMI Tennessee is one of 50 State Organizations of NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

Position Description – NAMI Tennessee is seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate, and adaptable Administrative Assistant to support our programs, statewide outreach, and advocacy initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who values teamwork, demonstrates servant leadership, and thrives in a collaborative environment. The Administrative Assistant will play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while supporting research, communications, and organizational initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Provide administrative support for programs, statewide outreach efforts, and advocacy initiativesAssist with scheduling, communications, and coordination of meetings, trainings, and eventsManage and maintain databases, contact lists, and program participation recordsConduct research to support programs, advocacy priorities, and organizational initiativesPrepare and edit correspondence, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Support internal and external communications, including emails, newsletters, and social media updatesCollaborate with staff, affiliates, and community stakeholders, demonstrating a servant leadership approach in all interactionsCollect, organize, and report data to track program outcomesPerform general office duties, including filing, data entry, and supply managementMaintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a positive, team-oriented attitudeQualifications

Qualifications

Exceptional written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple prioritiesDemonstrated servant leadership qualities—approachable, dependable, and motivated to help others succeedAbility to conduct research and synthesize information to support programs and advocacyAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environmentFlexibility to adapt to changing priorities within standard office hoursPrior experience in an administrative, nonprofit, or advocacy role preferredAdditional InformationBenefits
