Special Education Teacher – Self-Contained (SEL Focus)
We're hiring a Special Education Teacher for a full-time, school-year position in Illinois. This role supports elementary students in a self-contained program focused on social-emotional learning and behavior regulation. You’ll implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), provide direct instruction in academics and emotional regulation, and collaborate with staff and families to ensure student success.
In this role, you will create a safe and consistent classroom environment that fosters student growth and development. You will implement, monitor, and adjust Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) to support positive behavioral outcomes while teaching and supporting elementary students in a structured, self-contained setting. Collaboration is key—you’ll work closely with paraprofessionals, service providers, and families to provide individualized support and ensure continuity of care. Additionally, you will deliver direct instruction in emotional regulation, coping strategies, and core academic subjects to help students build both academic and social-emotional skills.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, candidates should demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills, hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field, and possess a background in behavior support or social-emotional instruction (preferred). A valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education endorsement is required.
