MUST HAVES:

  • Current and unrestricted

  • California Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Bachelor’s Degreein Nursing or related field
  • Minimum

  • 2 years of recent experience
  • in Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Intermediate Care
  • BLS and ACLS Certifications(American Heart Association)
  • Strong leadership or supervisory experience (Charge Nurse or higher preferred)

  • Proven experience in quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance

  • Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills

In this key leadership role, you will support the operational and clinical excellence of the Medical-Surgical and Telemetry (Intermediate Care) units at a leading acute care hospital.

This facility is a recognized regional leader, home to advanced trauma care, high-volume surgical programs, and one of the area’s busiest emergency departments. The Assistant Nurse Director will serve as the bridge between strategic nursing leadership and daily clinical operations—ensuring superior patient outcomes, staff development, and regulatory excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical and Quality Leadership

  • Provide clinical and operational oversight for Intermediate Care (Med/Surg and Telemetry) units.

  • Ensure consistent delivery of safe, high-quality, and compassionate patient care.

  • Maintain full compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, and state regulatory standards.

  • Lead ongoing process improvement efforts to optimize patient outcomes and reduce readmissions.

Operational Management

  • Oversee staffing assignments, workflow efficiency, and patient throughput.

  • Support the Nursing Director in managing departmental budgets and resource utilization.

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of all patient care activities.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop nursing and clinical support staff.

  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional excellence.

  • Facilitate education, skills validation, and continuing competency programs.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and foster an environment of trust and growth.
