Job Title
The Corporate Tax team at Fiserv supports domestic and international tax matters as part of the CFO organization, delivering strategic tax advice and operational excellence. The Domestic Tax Director will lead US Federal and State compliance, act as the subject matter expert for State income taxation, and drive strategy to manage risk and identify planning opportunities.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee the US Federal and State income tax function, including preparation and review of Federal and State and Local tax returns, estimated payments, and extensions.
- Provide technical guidance on domestic taxation with a strong emphasis on State income tax, including apportionment, sourcing, and nexus considerations and the impact of legislative and regulatory developments.
- Serve as the primary advisor on domestic tax risks, opportunities, and forecasted impacts with an emphasis on State tax.
- Act as a key liaison for senior leadership; drive day-to-day operational activities and completion of Federal and State compliance and provision deliverables by establishing clear processes, accountability, and escalation protocols.
- Partner with the technology lead and external advisors to define state tax technical requirements and provide subject matter expertise for state transformation projects.
- Review Federal and State ASC 740 provision calculations including quarterly and annual effective tax rate analysis, deferred tax balances, and return-to-provision adjustments.
- Support domestic tax controversy matters and ensure consistency between compliance, provision, and audit positions.
- Partner with finance, legal, and business teams to support financial reporting, transactions, and strategic decision-making.
Experience you’ll need to have:
- Bachelors of Science in Accounting or related degree
- 8+ years of experience with a strong technical and applied knowledge base of US Federal and State tax laws
- Deep technical expertise in State and Local income / franchise tax concepts
Experience that would be great to have:
- CPA or MST certification strongly preferred.
- Prior experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm or in a Fortune 500 corporate tax department.
- Experience implementing or leading tax technology transformations (e.g., ONESOURCE conversions, tax provision automation).
- Experience advising on tax matters in the financial services or technology industries.
- Direct experience leading cross-functional tax projects and communicating tax impacts to executive leadership.
