Job Summary:
The Providence Center helps adults, adolescents and children affected by psychiatric illnesses, emotional problems and addictions by providing treatment and supportive services within a community setting.
The Medical Office Assistant Bilingual will greet visitors, schedule appointments, respond to telephone callers and take messages.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collect demographic data, verify insurance coverage, amount of outstanding deductible, and collect fees as appropriate.
Interact with Access/Intake staff to facilitate the pre-admission process.
Enter and confirm all demographic and insurance information.
Determine and collect deductibles and copayments, as appropriate.
Respond to incoming telephone calls from outside agencies, insurance companies, staff and consumers.
Refer to the appropriate staff member, service component or community resource.
Candidate must be able assist and retrieve all documents in a timely fashion so the client can be seen for their access appointment.
Cover for lunches at main reception and for staff sick and vacation time.
Serve as a resource to staff regarding the Hispanic/Latino community.
Provide education and communicate on community resources and cultural matters.
Interpret/translate both language and cultural concerns for staff and other community service providers, as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements:
High school diploma with a business background and two years’ experience with third party reimbursement; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Must be able to multitask and work in an extremely busy environment.
Must also possess great typing skills, spelling, and grammar.
Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
General computer experience also required.
Spanish speaking required.
