SCOPE:
TheOperations Managerreports to the General Manager and will be responsible for achieving the monthly and annual operating plan for the site, as defined by the financial and operational performance metrics set for the business unit. This position has direct oversite of the Production Supervisors in Machining & Assembly, Warehouse, Purchasing, Planning and the Manufacturing Engineering functions. Working with peers on the site management team, this position also contributes to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices to drive comprehensive cultural change and business excellence.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Achieve monthly and annual operating plan, as defined by the Operational KPIs and financial statements
- Develop and lead the lean/continuous improvement process through the operation systems, processes and policies in support of the site’s mission – specifically, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP), along with OEE and cost improvement/budget performance
- Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of daily operations using lean tools
- Lead the effective coordination and communication between the support and business functions to achieve optimum solutions
- Assume a lead role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence
- Oversee overall inventory management, planning/scheduling systems and shop floor and inventory reporting and controls
- Management of operating budgets in coordination with the General Manager
- Ensure compliance to all regulatory and permit authority and timely reporting
- Regular meetings with the General Manager around fiscal budget planning
- Lead, motivate and develop the team to be a “world class” organization
- Oversee monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of organizations financial performance against budget, performance against financial and operational goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or equivalent in experience
- 5+ years’ experience in an operation management role
- Strong quality systems background
- Strong background and work experience in machining, engineering and project management
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
- Demonstrated strong lean manufacturing background
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing functional support and interfaces with senior leadership
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative team-oriented management style
