Program Therapist - Intensive Outpatient Program (OCD)
Job Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Program Manager and the general supervision of the Program Unit Chief, evaluates, diagnoses and treats a wide range of psychosocial problems, applying individual and group cognitive-behavioral interventions in order to assist patients and their families in the resolution of personal and environmental problems, attributable to psychiatric issues which prevents them from achieving their highest level of psychosocial functioning. Demonstrates ethical and collaborative behavior to ensure quality of care and promote positive department and program relationships.
Duties and Responsibilities
:
Completes Initial Psychiatric and Behavioral evaluations as assigned by the Program Manager.
Completes biopsychosocial evaluations: obtaining relevant history, psychosocial stressors, initial working/treatment diagnosis and formulation as assigned by the IOP Program Manager.
Develops individualized behavioral treatment plans.
Provides evidence-based cognitive-behavioral interventions.
Provides daily exposure-based group CBT in the IOP.
Conducts family consultation sessions.
Monitors the course of treatment and clinical progress of patients in the IOP.
Leads and co-leads exposure-based cognitive behavioral aftercare groups.
Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning to effectively meet the unique treatment needs of the patients.
Updates attending physicians and psychologists of the patients’ level of acuity - giving special attention to management of potential emergencies (e.g. suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, risk to minors or elders).
Advocates for the patient’s needs within the department and with outside agencies.
Provides consultation to IP and PHP develop/maintain continuity of care.
Provides community outreach and assists with triaging referrals to programs.
Requirements:
Education
: Master’s Degree or above.
Licensure
: License required. Independent license preferred
Training and Experience
: Experience in a psychiatric setting is required. Training and experience in delivering exposure-based CBT is necessary- particularly with specialty areas (OCD, anxiety, hoarding) or completing continuing education/in-services in that area will be required. Experienced in providing group and individual psychotherapy required.
