Carilion Clinicis searching for a Medical Director of Heart Failure Services to allow for the growth and expansion of Heart Failure services across our system of 7 hospitals and multiple outpatient clinics. Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH), our 703 bed Level 1 Trauma/Academic/Tertiary Care Center will be the primary site for advanced therapies including LVAD, but the Director will strive to improve HF care across all clinical sites and across the continuum of disease severity. The successful applicant will lead a team of physicians, Advanced Practice Providers and staff in further development of an outstanding Heart Failure Program. Responsibilities include continued development of the current Heart Failure Clinic to improve access and extend the scope of services to identify patients at risk for mortality, hospital readmission, and other adverse events as well as the refinement of a comprehensive inpatient Heart Failure service including consultative, diagnostic and treatment services for high risk hospitalized patients. Evaluation of patients for VAD support including long term/destination therapy and bridging support to transplantation along with coordination of care with neighboring transplantation centers required. Formal and bedside teaching of Cardiology Fellows, Internal Medicine Residents and other learners, as well as participation in Research is a core part of our Academic Mission. Qualifications include Board Certification in Cardiology and Board Certification in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation
Carilion Clinic’s Cardiovascular Institutewill expand significantly over the next twelve months with the opening of the new Crystal Spring Tower in 2025. The new tower will be the home for the Cardiovascular Institute and the expanded Emergency Department. The new signature building will add over 500,000 square feet to the hospital and will include the following: 3 Cardiovascular operating rooms, 2 Endovascular operating rooms, 2 General Vascular operating rooms, 6 Cardiac Catheterization labs, 3 Electrophysiology labs, 76 Intensive Care and Progressive Care inpatient rooms, 46 Pre-and Post-care rooms, 5 Trauma bays (including 1 dedicated peds bay – the only in the region) , 95 Dedicated ED beds, 40-bed ED observation unit
The Heart Failure Clinic will relocate to the Crystal Spring Tower and will include additional exam rooms and an outpatient infusion suite. The space also includes physician and APP offices in addition to a conference room for the Heart Failure team
