Colorado State University invites applications for the position of Director of the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences (IRISS), a full-time, 12-month administrative professional leadership role reporting to the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Liberal Arts.
IRISS empowers research teams to address complex challenges through applied social science. We seek an established leader with a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in the social sciences, an exemplary record of peer-reviewed scholarship, and demonstrated success leading research programs and teams. The successful candidate will bring expertise in social and behavioral science research methods, experience securing and managing external grants, and the ability to translate research for both academic and non-academic audiences. Strong organizational, project management, and supervisory skills are essential, along with enthusiasm for building collaborations across disciplines.
The Director will guide IRISS’s strategic vision, champion innovative research initiatives, and cultivate partnerships with state, federal, and community stakeholders. A central responsibility is to lead and expand interdisciplinary collaborations across CSU’s colleges to integrate social science into research initiatives spanning natural resources, engineering, agriculture, health, and beyond. The Director will also strengthen external collaborations, secure resources for growth, and lead a dynamic team that provides research services, training, and evaluation expertise.
