Title: Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist – Residential & Educational Setting
Location: Rochester, NY Area
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000/year
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time | On-Site
Key Responsibilities:
Screen new residents for nutritional risk and provide detailed assessments upon admission.
Advise the admissions team on whether the program can meet the nutritional needs of prospective clients.
Conduct comprehensive nutritional evaluations, including anthropometric measurements, dietary intake reviews, and personalized nutrition plans.
Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, therapists, educators, and support staff to implement and monitor effective nutrition interventions.
Oversee monthly weight and BMI tracking and report significant changes to clinical teams.
Periodically observe meal preparation and service to ensure alignment with health codes, dietary plans, and individualized care needs.
Work with behavior specialists, occupational therapists, and medical staff to support self-feeding strategies, including texture modifications, adaptive equipment, and pacing.
Provide consultation on food-medication interactions, lab results, and dietary impact of psychiatric medications.
Participate in interdisciplinary care team meetings, medical rounds, and other planning sessions.
Contribute to individual service plans and help set nutrition-related functional goals.
Gain expertise and provide guidance on specialized dietary needs such as PKU, diabetes, or other metabolic disorders.
Deliver regular training and education sessions to staff on healthy eating, wellness practices, and nutritional protocols.
Offer one-on-one and group nutrition counseling to residents.
Collaborate with food service teams to design and monitor menus that are appealing, nutritious, and compliant with federal/state guidelines.
Develop individualized meal plans for residents with complex nutritional or medical needs.
Support agency health promotion initiatives for both residents and staff.
Supervise any nutrition support staff, if applicable.
Maintain current knowledge of best practices through continuing education.
Uphold the highest standards of ethics and client-centered care.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
Completion of an accredited dietetic internship.
Current licensure or eligibility for licensure and registration as a Dietitian in New York State.
Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across disciplines.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
