Science and Mathematics Department faculty member–leave replacement

Reporting:

The position reports directly to the Science Department Chairperson and the Mathematics Department Chairperson and is responsible to the Principal.

OVERVIEW OF THE SCHOOL:

Loyola School is a Jesuit, Catholic, independent, coeducational, college preparatory secondary school located in New York City, with a student enrollment of approximately 220 young men and women. Loyola seeks a full time teacher of Science and Mathematics for a leave replacement faculty position from 12/8/25 - 4/17/26.

Teachers at Loyola hold students accountable to high levels of academic excellence in a rigorous college preparatory program, and this should be reflected in their own professional standards and commitment.

In the tradition of cura personalis (care for each individual across each of their dimensions), Loyola's teachers are also expected to participate and be engaged in the life of the school outside the classroom; an ability and desire to contribute to the co-curricular and spiritual life of the school is required.

Necessary Skills:

Some teaching experience in Jesuit/Catholic education is preferred, and a commitment to the mission of Jesuit education is required. A 4-year degree is required and a Master's degree in Physics, Mathematics or in Education is preferred.

Status:

The position is a leave replacement faculty position from 12/8/25 - 4/17/26.

Typical Level of Interaction:

Requires interaction with all School departments in addition to students and families.
