Success in this role hinges on strong interpersonal communication, multitasking with multi-line phone systems, and a compassionate approach to senior care. Familiarity with administrative duties like mail handling and data entry is essential, especially when serving as the first point of contact in a senior living community.
American Senior Communities offers mentorship programs and education partnerships with local colleges, paving ways for clinical and leadership development. Engaging with these resources can help part-time receptionists grow their skills and potentially transition into more specialized or supervisory roles within senior care.
Weekend receptionist jobs often require balancing a welcoming presence with independent problem-solving due to reduced staffing. At Harrison Terrace, the weekend role from 9am-3pm every other weekend emphasizes creating a comforting environment for seniors while managing administrative tasks autonomously.
Weekend shifts mean fewer immediate resources, so receptionists must be adept at handling inquiries independently and maintaining calm, empathetic interactions with residents and visitors. The role also demands flexibility and patience, especially when addressing urgent needs during off-peak hours.
In Indianapolis, part-time weekend receptionists typically earn between $12 and $16 per hour, depending on experience and employer benefits. American Senior Communities complements this with perks like holiday pay, PTO options, and healthcare benefits, enhancing overall compensation.
Beyond core responsibilities, the company offers wellness programs, employee assistance, and financial benefits like 401(k) and tuition reimbursement. This holistic support fosters a positive work environment, ensuring receptionists feel valued and equipped to contribute meaningfully to senior care.

Indianapolis has a steady demand for part-time weekend receptionists in healthcare and senior services, but competition remains moderate. Candidates emphasizing customer service skills and a commitment to senior care often stand out, especially with relevant experience or GED-level education.
Given Indianapolis’ traffic patterns, weekend shifts typically allow smoother commutes. However, proximity to Harrison Terrace and access to reliable transport are important factors, especially since shifts are every other weekend and require punctuality during core daytime hours.
A high school diploma or GED is essential, along with one to three months of related experience. Equally important is a genuine passion for senior advocacy, strong communication skills, and the ability to foster a welcoming atmosphere aligned with the company’s care standards.
