The Sales Manager Polymer is responsible for sales within the American Polymer Market Segment, with a focus on selling new equipment solutions, upgrades and spare parts packages from the Maag Group product portfolio. Such selling efforts include maintaining good business relationships with key polymer market accounts, as well as growing sales by winning back old customers and hunting/developing new customers. In coordination and conjunction with the Business Leader, the Sales Manager is tasked to focus on polymer market opportunities. For example, a comprehensive review of lost customers will be an ongoing priority to fully understand why they switched away from us and what is needed to gain their business back: value-based selling will be the basis for adjusting our business approach. As Maag develops the Polymer Market Sales model, the Sales Manager will be asked to provide frequent constructive feedback to Management. This feedback will help Product and System Development to understand what innovations or adjustments are needed for future success in that market. To better support our customers having complex systems, the Sales Manager Polymer will be largely supported by the Maag Solutioning Group. This support includes Solutioning, having direct customer contact to review specifications in order to provide the best product solution for the customer. Maag Sales Manager Polymer will be a key part of the team that allows Maag to bring value-based systems to our customers. Products to become familiar with are pumps, filtration, pelletizing systems, AMN large dies, and large dryers. Spare parts and aftermarket services will remain a part of overall customer care. The position will mainly be targeted to key polymer market accounts rather than geography. However, the Business Leader may choose to have geography territory play a role in the Americas Polymer Market Strategy.
Position description – Tasks, Responsibilities, Competencies
- Achieve sales bookings targets within assigned market segment
- Primary contact for active customers and new customer activities as assigned by Market Lead
- Contribute to development of value-based sales tools, bringing in-field examples to the table
- Understand the competitive environment and provide guidance and tools on how to sell against competitive technology and where the market is heading.
- Fully utilize Camos and CRM system for proper business tracking and analysis
- Interact with other Market groups to maximize our ability grow our business
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within team to review lessons learned, track quote levels and order hit rate, and optimize conversion strategies
Work Environment
Work in this position may require significant travel, primarily to targeted customer sites within your market group and occasionally to Maag Americas’ facilities. While performing the duties of this job in a customer factory setting, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE may be required.Physical Requirements

Education
Mandatory
- Four-year Engineering degree from accredited university (or) 10 year experience in similar position within industry
- Significant, proven success within the Polymer Industry
Desirable
- Sales training including 5+years of hands on sales experience
- Plastics industry background
- Training on polymer processing technologies
- Proven history of new customer acquisition using value-based selling arguments
- Ability to work within a Team Environment, contributing to positive change
- Spanish language skills
