JOB SUMMARY:
Duke Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology strives to provide quality care for our patients, focusing on patient satisfaction, optimizing outcomes, ongoing research, and the education and development of clinical staff, faculty and resident physicians. The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine is seeking a full time sonographer to join the Duke Perinatal team, which has clinic locations in Raleigh, Cary and Durham. This position will be based primarily in Cary but may provide coverage in other locations as needed.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations
- Exams include, but may not be limited obstetric, gynecologic, fetal cardiac and interventional procedures.
- Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
- Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer’s care.
- Communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient’s needs.
- Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies.
- Establishes and maintains productive ethical working relationships with patients, coworkers, referring providers, and commercial agencies.
- Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided
- Performs infection control procedures such as vaginal probe HLD.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
ARDMS certification within 18 months of hire.
