Description
Team Fishel , the Best Choice in Utility Construction, is hiring a Safety Coordinator for our Special Projects operation based in Chantilly, VA. The responsibilities of this position include conducting safety training programs as well as updating and maintaining those programs. This position also includes conducting routine safety visits to enforce safety policies including PPE and identifying specific job hazards and precautions at various job site locations.
Responsibilities
Maintain condition and operability of Emergency Response equipment
Investigates reportable accidents, injuries and job damages
Oversee/coordinate and monitor contract service/inspection of fire extinguishers, breathing apparatus, portable gas detectors and other applicable fire/safety equipment
Conduct/coordinate classroom and field training meetings as needed
Assist Operations and Maintenance Supervision in preparation of materials for monthly safety meetings
Serve as member of Incident Investigation committees on an "as needed" basis
Requirements & Qualifications
2+ years of experience in the utility construction business with a focus on underground construction and safety
An advanced degree in Safety Management or comparable subject is highly desirable
Candidates should be accredited in safety, including OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR, and Smith System Trainer
Ability to perform audits and document findings of company procedures and practices
Must be an effective communicator and computer literate with familiarity of MS Office and Google Suite, bilingual English / Spanish is preferred
This position may require travel for projects outside the Virginia area
